Today is July 27th. And we should all, as gamers, step away from things for a minute to realize how lucky we are to have had a guy like Gary Gygax in our corner. He created the game we love, because he loved it too. A true nerd hero if there ever was one. He was a born storyteller, who understood the adventurous soul in people like us.

People who want to charge a castle-keep, battle a gnarly troll, or make their way through an lethal underground dungeon sprawl, desperately trying to dodge murderous traps, and solve difficult puzzles along the way. This man "got it". He understood. Turning something as simple as a game, into a system so complete, that it can be used to judge and interpret any situation your imagination can conceive. So perfect is this system, that even now... With the lead of a good Dungeon Master... We everyday adventurers can craft brilliantly detailed stories, and recount them years after, to new generations of players, to new groups, to our children, as though we were truly there. I for one want to bend the knee to this innovator. This dynamo of gaming history. And say... genuinely... Thank you Mr. Gygax. You have made my world, and the worlds of countless others... more amazing than we ever could have hoped.
