Dwarven Gameplay

Another Weekly down, and still chuggin' on along...

I'll be honest, even if nobody read these... I'd probably still keep going, because it has been a huge help keeping me drawing and whatnot. Plus I think they're funny... So whatever.
Also, I think I might be addicted to "likes/shares"... Everytime someone adds our 4Rounds facebook profile, I'm all like, "Yeeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhh....", and for every share and like, I'm a little more excited about people seeing it. Oh well... To the point of why I started blogging.

Zach and I were drinking with a buddy of ours the other day, Savage. (Yeah... I know, coolest name ever right? Btw... It's his real last name, and his first name is Zack, so we call him savage... Thusly winning the name lottery.) But I said, "I think it would be cool to have a whole party of dwarves."

And that's where it started... This wild ride, into 2 games of Pathfinder a week. (Nerd Country.)

We got a great DM, and a full party, and are ready to rock-n-roll.  And to bring it to a much nerdier, and yet, entirely more awesome level... I thought I should take it upon myself to write some dwarven family drinking songs to sing while the DM is looking through manuals, and during combat rolls, and the like...

So... We will be rolling through a campaign as a full dwarf party, singing drinking songs, with real life beer, and a great sense of brotherhood across the board...

Yeah... It's cool... You can say it... You "jeally" like a mofo.

So, there's this sketch right? We were working on another Metapod themed joke and, well, this sort of just happened. We don't in any way want to call this, "finished material," or you know, like art even, but for the sake of the funnies here is hard knocks Metapod, revision two.

Hello ravenous fans of 1d4rounds. Zach speaking. I was able to purchase a laptop yesterday, effectively ensuring that I can access the internet at any time of day. Now on to better things.

Having effectively no idea what I should write about at this time, I've chosen instead to bring you news. Not journalistically, instead I will be simply linking you to, and making you aware of the presence of, news.

First up it's tabletop RPG news, and this one I'm excited about. Kobold Press has conscripted Ed Greenwood and Pathfinder creator Jason Bulmahn, among others, to produce a new book compatible with the Pathfinder RPG. It will contain many new variant magics, notable among these being blood magic; one of my personal favorite tropes of the genre. The ten thousand dollar goal has already been met and exceeded more than five times over, so you can expect many of the interesting stretch goals to be included as well. By all means, please check out the article on boingboing.net, or the Kickstarter itself over at Kickstarter.com.

Secondly, it's time for some good news for Xbox fans. Your Xbox One will not have to be online, there will be no 24 hour checks, and disk based games can be bought, sold, and traded freely. Honestly guys, this one was not a big deal for me. Xbox is trying to change the market, to make it more profitable, which by the way, is something that is going to happen. Sony took the easy move and decided to grab for market share. They waited on Microsoft to make an announcement and then when that very dangerous announcement had been made, they lept in and claimed moral superiority. Great business decision, but the honest truth is both these companies need to shift the way we do things if they are going to keep this money train a-rolling.

Anyway here with the good news is an article from The PA Report. Seriously folks, this is perhaps my favorite place for general gaming news, and I'm more than glad to share it. When it's funded by none other than Penny Arcade itself, you know it must be reputable.

Well that's it for today guys, thanks for playing!

Info junk...

Hey, Deece here...

I wanted to say thank you again, to everyone who sent emails about the weekly update. Really overwhelmingly positive. And you "shared / liked" it obviously, because our visitor count for that day, went CRAZY. It broke our previous record, and set in place a new one.

I don't want to jump the shark, and say that's enough... because we have always wanted to run a comic. I mean since I was a little kid, before the internet was commonplace, and before the term "web comic" was even invented. Back when I would go to 1st grade art class, and draw skeletons on skateboards, or dogmen in armor. Back when I had my 16th birthday and I got my first set of inking pens and prismacolor markers. We used to sit up all night on weekends and draw, and write, and create, and it was incredibly fun.

I thought as I got older, that would change. I mean, I used to think that Paula Abdul was the sexiest woman on the planet, and that HeMan had an awesome costume... So, to sit here today, knowing Paula is batshit crazy, and that HeMan actually looks like some fruitcake rave guy... But still want to draw comics to make people laugh, is really stabilizing to me. And to have a wave of people, coming by each week, and laughing, and writing us emails, is like a huge gust of wind, keeping us going in that direction.

I'm not one for the sappy emotional crap... so I'll just leave it short and sweet here...

I love doing this... It's easy for me, because I love it so much... And you guys are the best, for giving me an audience with which to share my goofy little pictures.
YOU ALL ROCK!

analytics

Our analytics software (Thanks Google.) has shown us that certain days have an increase in traffic, even if we dont have a content release that day. It's interesting to us.
So, I have decided to try and move some stuff around the next week or two, to see how it increases or decreases our page visits, and page views.
Ideally, we would like to have something set in stone that works well. Unfortunately we are not seasoned businessmen, or statisticians. So I think the best thing to do is to kinda try some different stuff out and see what works.
Thursdays have been notoriously hectic. A ton of traffic, and all on a day when no new content was added. It is a weird thing for us to see. (Especially when I work on a comic for the weekly, and it gets beat in views by a day when nothing new is uploaded. What's the deal with that?!)
So, the new release dates are on the homepage, and we will keep you up to date with anything that changes.
Also, the forum is dead... Everyone sent me emails and Facebook messages about "We want a forum!" Then they don't use it... You guys are killin' me here.

Well, use it or lose it I guess... Or perhaps we havent advertised it enough. I dont know. I figure we can give it a few weeks, and make a final judgement then. But, if you want to keep it around... like you said you did in your fiery emails. (And by the way... they were just that. Fiery.) Then I guess you should make a profile and comment it up. Lol.

NEW 1d4 Arena (aka forum) beta

6/6/2013

By popular request, we have created a web-forum. This first few weeks it will be in beta.
We want to see if it is popular enough to keep maintaining, or if it is something we should work on at a later time. If you are interested in keeping it around, then by all means, use it. We'd be more than happy to keep it up and running, if people use it on a regular basis.

We always want to do whatever we can to accommodate our public...
So, argue, voice your opinions, tell us about your view on the VS system (since that seems to be the major selling point of the forum according to your emails.)

Just have some fun... There will even be rewards for "awesome" comments.
So, as Tatsu, from ninja turtles would say....

"Go... Play..."

The only way I'll be okay with this, is if Rose Tyler is still diggin' the Doctor post regen.
PS- The comments are pretty nerdy.

(If you dig that kinda think as much as we do. NudgeNudge.)
